I hope the FSU football fans who were about to jump off a bridge a week or so ago didn’t do it. The Noles landed their first defensive end commitment in the 2024 recruiting cycle, with four-star DD Holmes announcing the news Saturday afternoon.

Holmes chose the Noles over the hometown Maryland Terrapins and helps to fill one of the biggest needs in the recruiting class. Holmes officially visited FSU on June 23, and an assist has to go out to FSU defensive end Jared Verse.

Holmes spent a lot of time with Verse while on the visit, with Verse taking the Jermaine Johnson role in putting on the recruiting hat. There’s a lot to like about Holmes, who lists at 6’6″ and 250 pounds.

He’s college ready from a size standpoint, but will need time to get stronger and develop in a college strength and conditioning program.

FSU had a strong presence in the DMV area when Jimbo Fisher was head coach, and that presence seems to have dwindled over the last few years.

However, defensive ends coach John Papuchis has ties to the area, and played a part in getting four-star Elijah Moore on FSU’s radar. How does this addition impact FSU?
