FSU football fans rejoice as the Seminoles finally acquire another defensive prospect in their 2024 recruiting class.

On Saturday afternoon, the coaching staff received the great news that four-star defensive end target Daniel “DD” Holmes from Gonzaga High School in Washington, DC, decided to commit to Florida State over schools such as Maryland, Rutgers, and South Carolina.

The 6’6”, 250-pound pass rusher took his official visit to the Seminoles this past weekend. During the trip, he spent quality time with redshirt junior defensive end Jared Verse.

Verse was phenomenal during the 2022 season for the Seminoles, where he recorded 47 total tackles and nine sacks. However, this will likely be his final season in Tallahassee as he looks to chase his lifelong dream of becoming a professional athlete.

FSU football coaches understand the importance of acquiring high quality prospects at the defensive end position. The Seminoles signed two prospects in four-star Lamont Green Jr. and JUCO Jaden Jones during the 2023 recruiting cycle.

FSU was able to get a certified playmaker with adding four-star DD Holmes. After four-star target Dylan Stephenson surprisingly committed to Stanford, the coaching staff had to move in a different direction at the position.

Luckily enough, they got a prospect who had 37 total tackles (eight tackles for loss) during his junior season. While Holmes is still developing his skill set as a prospect, he could be a player that molds into early contributor for the Seminoles.

With the commitment of Holmes, the Seminoles have moved up to No. 18 in the 247Sports Composite rankings.

This addition is only the beginning for the Florida State Seminoles’ recruiting efforts as they look to strengthen their class (especially on the defensive side of the football).

July looks to be very promising for head football coach Mike Norvell and company.
