FSU football: Six highly-touted prospects officially visiting FSU this weekend
FSU football will host six highly-touted prospects from the 2024 recruiting cycle this weekend.
The coaching staff looks to create momentum for its recruiting class that already ranks No. 9 in the 247Sports’ Composite rankings.
The following prospects will be visiting campus this weekend:
•Five-star CB Charles Lester III
•Four-star WR BJ Gibson (FSU commit)
•Four-star CB Ricky Knight III
•Four-star S Zavier Mincey
•Three-star DT Alex January
•Three-star CB Kevin Levy
Analysis on Lester
When evaluating the list of prospects arriving on campus, the main discussion centers around five-star cornerback Charles Lester III (who recently transferred to Venice High School in Venice, Florida). The talented defender currently has three crystal ball predictions for the Seminoles.
However, Lester III is fresh off his official visit to Colorado. FSU fans are quite familiar with the head football coach Deion Sanders’ recruiting efforts after he was able to lure former 2022 five-star cornerback commit Travis Hunter to Jackson State on Early Signing Day.
The concerns aren’t over after this weekend either, as he will be officially visiting the defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs on the June 23rd weekend. While the Seminoles have a massive slate lined up for June 23, the coaching staff decided to bring Lester III in this weekend so that they could get more quality time with him.
FSU will host 15 official visitors next weekend compared to six this weekend. As a result, Lester III will have the opportunity to take the full experience before making a decision (the timetable has not been announced).
Things to monitor about other prospects
As for the other visitors, four-star cornerback Ricky Knight III from Palm Beach Gardens is a prospect FSU wants in its defensive backfield. However, he has a crystal ball prediction for the Miami Hurricanes and has an official visit scheduled with them next weekend.
Four-star defensive back Zavier Mincey also has an official visit scheduled with the Hurricanes next weekend. But four-star wide receiver commit BJ Gibson will be in attendance this weekend to ensure that both prospects have something to think about with the Noles before heading to Coral Gables.
Lastly, three-star defensive tackle Alex January (former high school teammates with current tight end Jerrale Powers and offensive lineman Jaylen Early) and three-star cornerback Kevin Levy are also in attendance this weekend. January has an official visit to Texas next weekend, while Levy heads to Illinois next weekend.
