FSU football: Q&A with four-star DB target Ricky Knight III before his FSU OV
FSU football doesn’t have any cornerback prospects committed to its 2024 recruiting class. However, there are targets such as four-star Ricky Knight III from The Benjamin School in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, who are heavily interested in the Seminoles.
Knight III will official visit Florida State from June 16-18. The talented defensive back has visited the Seminoles three times since being offered on January 15, 2023.
We at ChopChat decided to talk with Knight III about what he was looking for on the official visit, his relationship with the coaching staff, and a potential timeline for when he will announce a commitment.
Q: When you officially visit Florida State in June, what are some things that you will be looking for?
A: ”Honestly, they’ve shown me a lot. I toured the city and everything. Now I want to see the dorms because that’s where I’m going to have to sleep. I’m also going to ask more about my major.”
Q: How is your relationship with defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr? What stands out about the coaching staff?
A: ”Our relationship is great. Coach (Patrick) Surtain is a real Florida guy. He isn’t necessarily a recruiter. He doesn’t text you every day like you all are married. When he texts you, it’s truly genuine and not just trying to check a box. He is real and doesn’t fake anything. He treats me like I am his family. The coaching staff as a whole, always makes sure I feel welcomed when I come on to campus.”
Q: Do you have a timeline for your decision yet?
A: ”I’m going to commit some time in between July-August.”
We want to thank Ricky for taking the time out of his day to answer our questions. You can follow his Twitter account by clicking here. You can see more of our Q&A series here, here, and here.
