★★★★★ Forward Karter Knox has released his top eight schools, and FSU basketball is on that list. His top 8 include Louisville, Kentucky, FSU, USF, LSU, Arkansas, Auburn, and NBA G-League.

Karter is 6’6″ and 205 pounds from Tampa Catholic HS in Tampa, Florida, where he averaged 19.8 pts/G, 2.6 A/G, 9.9 REB/G. He currently plays for the Tampa Rebels in the Nike EYBL, where he averages 21.2 pts/G and leads the league. Knox is the #8 overall and the #2 player in Florida for the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Most reports have this as a Louisville/Kentucky battle for his services. Karter’s brother Kevin Knox played at the University of Kentucky and was drafted by the New York Knicks with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Does that make Kentucky his #1 school? Louisville head coach Kenny Payne was at Kentucky when Kevin played there. Does that give them an edge? What about South Florida? Karter’s other brother Kobe Knox just transferred there.

Where does FSU basketball fit in? Karter’s parents went to Florida State, and his Dad played wide receiver for the Noles. Karter says he is still an FSU football fan to this day. Florida State is known to have great defensive teams, and Karter has said he is a defensive player.

Knox said that coaching will be a big deciding factor for him on where he chooses to play. Leonard Hamilton will have some work to do here, but I see FSU as a potential sleeper in this race. FSU needs to get him on campus for a visit as he has only been to UK and Louisville so far.

FSU lost some good young prospects in the portal, and they did grab a few back, but recruiting a player like this opens the floodgates for other recruits to follow and goes a long way to help get FSU back to its winning ways.

Next. Important Offseason for Leonard Hamilton. dark
