FSU football fans react to Destyn Hill announced as part of roster
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football has done the unthinkable and announced 2021 four-star signee Destyn Hill as officially a part of its football roster.
Count me as one of the doubters once Hill didn’t enroll in the spring of 2022, and I was sure he wouldn’t be on the team in 2023 despite rumors it could happen.
The reasons for Hill’s delayed enrollment remain a mystery, and I’m not sure they’ll ever fully become available. However, it’s a testament to his drive to complete the process, plus the FSU coaching staff’s commitment to honor his scholarship from two years ago.
Hill was the top-rated signee in the 2021 recruiting class and one of the top wide receivers in the nation. I wrote about the impact of his signing back then here.
I compared Hill to a bigger and faster Rashad Greene at the time. He clocked a blazing 4.32 forty time at a National Combine in January 2020. The question is, that was over three years ago and he hasn’t played football since the fall of 2020.

Now, the coaching staff has to know he’s in solid shape and he’s been working out to continue to support him joining the program.
How long will it take for him to acclimate and become a contributor? I wouldn’t expect much this season because he didn’t early enrollee and FSU has some experience returning to the wide receiver unit.
Maybe he can help with kickoff or punt returns? The latter is a question mark with the departure of Mycah Pittman to Utah via the transfer portal. If he develops, Hill could become a difference-maker for FSU football.
However, there’s no way to know how probably that is under the circumstances. I continue to say trust the coaches in these situations. I’m genuinely excited for this young man and eager to see what he can become.
