FSU football added a big piece to its 2021 recruiting class when four-star WR Destyn Hill committed Wednesday on National Signing Day.

FSU football coaches are looking for playmakers at the wide receiver position, and Hill was their top target.

Hill (No. 113 overall) is the highest-ranked recruit to sign with the Noles since DJ Matthews (No. 51 overall) in the 2017 recruiting class.

There’s a lot to like about Hill, and we’ll get to what he brings to the table in a bit.

However, I think it’s important to talk about his recruitment and what it tells us about the FSU staff.

It’s difficult to bring in quality players from places like Louisiana and Alabama because there are big-time programs in those states and the surrounding areas. Also, the players from those states usually have more pressure to stay home as opposed to players from the state of Florida.

FSU offered early and got Hill on campus quickly while holding off other programs down the stretch while living during a pandemic.

Let’s be real if LSU or Alabama wanted Hill they probably could have gotten him. However, it’s still impressive to see FSU sign a player they wanted who didn’t sign during the early signing period.

Let’s talk about Hill’s impact on the program.
