QUARTERBACK

The Seminoles have one quarterback prospect committed to their recruiting class four-star Luke Kromenhoek from Benedictine Military School in Savannah, Georgia (been committed to FSU since March 26, 2022).

Florida State certainly liked what they saw from the talented quarterback prospect early on in his recruiting process, and they offered him a scholarship back on June 18, 2021. This offer came before Kromenhoek was even named the starting quarterback at Benedictine Military School.

Ironically enough, he was behind Class of 2021 four-star Holden Geriner, who eventually signed with the Auburn Tigers. During his senior season, Geriner completed 68 percent of his passes for 3,377 yards and 36 touchdowns with just three interceptions.

After not being named a starter at the position until his junior season, Kromenhoek did not lose faith in his abilities as a quarterback. Instead, he wanted to help his team win in any way possible.

As a result, during the 2021 season, while Geriner took the majority of snaps at quarterback, the FSU commit decided to play wide receiver (had 287 yards and three touchdowns) and safety (had 61 tackles and one interception). That move paid off as the Benedictine Military School won a state championship that year.

As a first-year starter at quarterback in 2022, his hard work and dedication paid off, as once again, his high school football team won yet another state championship. During that season, Kromenhoek completed 69 percent of his passes for 3,029 total yards and 31 touchdowns with only three interceptions.

The Seminoles have gotten themselves a dynamic quarterback prospect for the future. Florida State is so confident in Kromenhoek’s abilities to be successful that it seems like he will be their only quarterback prospect in the class.

Personally, I understand the skepticism towards the fanbase for taking Kromenhoek as the only quarterback prospect in the cycle and putting all their eggs in one basket, especially with what happened with previous quarterback prospects such as Nicco Marchiol, Jeff Sims, Sam Howell, Luke Altmyer, Chris Parson, etc.

I understand that recruiting can be unpredictable at times. However, the Seminoles are in a better spot as a football program than they were at various times when the previous prospects de-committed.

At some point, it has to be recognized that this coaching staff believed in Kromenhoek from the very beginning, and the relationships should play a huge factor in his final decision on Signing Day.

Seminole fans were worried about his unofficial visit to Penn State on April 7, 2023. But he later canceled the noise and shut down his recruitment with the school that believed in him from the beginning.
