FSU baseball (19-28, 6-18 ACC) overcame a late Jacksonville lead to win the season series rubber match 6-4. It is the fourth straight win for the Noles.

D’Amez Ross was the player of the game, leading off things in the bottom of the first inning with a home run.

He also has the go-ahead single in the bottom of the eighth inning, which was the eventual winning run. He also made a stellar play in the third inning to save roommate Jamie Arnold on the mound.

Ross finished the game going 3-5 with three RBI. His batting average is up to .298 on the season.

Jaime Ferrer went 3-5 with an RBI(the final hit should have been a routine out, but the outfielder lost the ball in the lights, and a run scored in the bottom of the eighth).

Cam Smith continues to stay hot, going 2-4 with a double and RBI. The FSU offense had 13 hits in the game. Jamie Arnold got the mid-week start, going 3.1 innings, allowing two runs(one earned), two walks, two strikeouts, and one hit.

Ben Barrett went 2.2 innings, allowing one earned run on three hits while striking out three with zero walks. Doug Kirkland got the win by pitching the final three innings. He allowed a solo home run, which was the only hit allowed while striking out three with zero walks.

It was a gritty win late, especially considering the offense left several runners on the bases early in the game. However, one of the biggest differences in the game was two-out hitting. The Noles were 6 of 14 in those situations.

FSU will face No. 2 Wake Forest in their next outing at Dick Howser Stadium. Could the Noles use this four-game winning streak to shock some folks this weekend? If they get good starting pitching, they’ll have a shot.
