Former FSU football All-ACC safety Jammie Robinson has always been about his work. He’s a no-nonsense guy, so it should come as no surprise he was the first draftee by the Carolina Panthers to sign his rookie deal Tuesday morning.

Robinson was the No. 145 pick overall, selected in the fifth round Saturday afternoon, and the lone FSU football player taken in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The reception from Carolina Panther fans has been off the chart, and one bought him a Carolina Panther beanie shortly after the Panthers drafted him. Robinson explained he’s from North Georgia and playing for the Panthers was ideal, and wouldn’t mind playing for the Panthers his entire career.

According to Spotroc, the contract is for an estimated value of $4,169,526 with a signing bonus of $329,526 and a 2023 cap hit of $832,381. His base salary in 2023 will be $750,000.

Robinson has always had the underdog mentality. A former three-star recruit in the 2019 recruiting class, signed with South Carolina and started as a freshman. He was third on the team in tackles, with 62, four passes defended, an interception, and 1.5 tackles for a loss.

He improved on those numbers in only 10 games in the shortened 2020 COVID season, with 74 tackles. However, he transferred to FSU for the 2021 season and promptly led the team in tackles with 84, and repeated that feat in 2022 with 99 total tackles.

Robinson has always had confidence in himself and told Carolina Panther Defensive Coordinator Ejiro Evero he plans to come in and become a starter as soon as he got on the phone with him.

I wouldn’t doubt it, considering how quickly Robinson contributed at South Carolina without enrolling early. As a native of North Carolina and Carolina Panther fan, I believe the Panthers got an absolute steal in the fifth round.
