UAB redshirt senior safety Jaylen Key has announced his top six schools list, which included schools such as Florida State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Alabama, Oregon, and Ole Miss.

Key recently visited Alabama and he posted on his Twitter account that he will be visiting Ole Miss on Monday.

However, the Tallahassee (FL) native shared a tweet from Noles247 FSU Insider Zach Blostein stating the following: “VIP Intel exclusively on Noles247: FSU set to host transfer safety prospect on campus in the near future.”

During the 2022 season, the talented defensive back finished with 60 total tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one sack. Key was originally a Class of 2018 three-star prospect from Godby High School in Tallahassee, Florida.

The Seminoles have seen departures at the safety position as redshirt junior Travis Jay and junior Omarion Cooper have entered the transfer portal. The safety position is now considered a prioritized position for FSU football going forward.

Just as a reminder, the transfer portal window officially closes today (Sunday, April 30th). However, graduate transfers are allowed to enter the transfer portal even after the April 30th deadline.

FSU coaches typically move fast with transfer portal targets they like, especially if they get them to visit. Key visiting Tallahassee is big, and I wouldn’t expect him to be on the market long if the coaches like what they see when they evaluate him in person.

A Tallahassee native that fits a position of need sounds like a leg up on the rest of the teams involved. If there’s long gap between his visit and making a decision, it’s likely the staff doesn’t like him enough to go all in on him. However, at this point, they need bodies for depth, at the very least.
