FSU football lost a commitment from blue-chip safety Jordan Pride in its 2024 recruiting class Wednesday night.

If you don’t follow recruiting closely, this isn’t one to get alarmed about because his commitment had been shaky for some time.

Pride committed in July 2021, a month after receiving an offer from FSU, which was his second offer overall.

He visited the Noles a gazillion times in that period, mind you, this was right after restrictions from the pandemic lifted.

He visited several times last year, but whispers began, and he started visiting other places, plus FSU defensive backs coach Marcus Woodson left to take a job at Arkansas.

Pride visited FSU in January and March this year but didn’t seem locked in like the other commits that were showing up to campus.

It seems almost like a mutual decision by both parties at this point. Pride ranked as the No. 86 player overall and No. 6 safety.

He’s a quality player no question, but FSU has several quality safety targets on their board, including five-star KJ Bolden, who was on campus about a week ago.

Then others like Ricardo Jones and Brandon Jacob could join the other safety commit CJ Heard in the class.

FSU football remains at No. 6 nationally with the departure from the class, and now has eight commitments overall. However, I wouldn’t be shocked to see that change with a ton of quality recruits visiting for the spring game this weekend.

Plus, it’s good that Pride went ahead with the de-commitment. FSU coaches can put their attention towards players that want to be at FSU as we head down the summer home stretch with lots of players taking official visits this summer.

Good luck to Jordan Pride, and I imagine he’ll end up at some school in the SEC.
