FSU baseball (8-3) had a much-needed win in the final game against FGCU Sunday afternoon to avoid getting swept at home. The FSU offense was lively in all three games, but the pitching and defense failed the Noles in the first two games. The Noles will look to build off that win when they host Bethune Cookman (8-4) in midweek action Tuesday evening.

Bethune Cookman is hitting .283 as a team with an on-base percentage of .386. They struck out only 25.6 percent of their at-bats but have hit seven home runs.

Bethune Cookman pitchers bring a 4.33 ERA into the matchup, with batters hitting .249. They have struck out 126 batters, walked 37, and allowed 11 home runs in 108 innings pitched. The Wildcats have a .973 fielding percentage.

FSU baseball is hitting .316 as a team with an on-base percentage of .403. FSU pitchers bring a 4.32 ERA into the matchup, and the Noles have a .960 fielding percentage through 11 games.

I’m not sure he’ll get the start on the mound, but whoever it is must eat up innings since the pitching staff got taxed in their four games last week.

The Noles didn’t have a single starter go past 2.1 innings in the three-game series, and they need a mid-week starter to emerge to help eat up innings to keep the bullpen fresh for weekend contests.

Bethune Cookman hasn’t played anyone considered good, but their bats were competitive against some great FSU arms last year in a 17-9 loss.

This Bethune Cookman team looks improved over last season, and this isn’t a game the guys can take lightly as they prepare to enter ACC play against Pittsburgh this weekend.

The game will begin at 5 p.m. ET and will air on the ACCNX channel. You can listen here if you don’t have the ability to watch.
