Team Didn’t Quit

There is no room for moral victories at FSU football, especially not from home games where you’re a touchdown favorite.

However, the Noles found themselves in a deep hole early in the first half. The FSU offense couldn’t get anything going, and the FSU defense, while doing a good job limiting explosive plays, allowed Wake Forest in the end zone on three occasions.

One of them was the result of an FSU offensive turnover that gave Wake Forest a short field. The Noles missed a chip shot field goal right before halftime and were down 21-7.

Wake Forest received the ball first in the second-half, and the FSU defense needed a stop something serious. However, Wake Forest scored their fourth touchdown to push their lead to 28-7, and it looked like the route was on.

It would have been easy to lay down against a team that seemed to get every favorable call from the officials and capable of scoring a lot of points.

However, they continued to fight and got enough defensive stops to give the offense opportunities to get back in to the game. It was good to see because the body language on some of the players after the fourth Wake Forest touchdown didn’t look good.

Mycah Pittman seemed to insert some life into the team with a few plays, and they began to play at a different level than earlier.

In the end, it wasn’t enough, and they made too many mistakes, but the will to fight is something we’ve seen time and time again.
