The FSU football team was in a prime position to make a statement Saturday afternoon. The Noles were coming off their most complete game of the season last week and knew they needed another one to secure a win over Wake Forest.

They did the opposite in all three phases, and it cost them their first loss of the season. I think emotions got the better of folks knowing it was the first loss of the season.

I saw way too many people blaming Adam Fuller.

If I told you Wake Forest would only score 31 points before the game, I think most of you would have taken that and thought FSU would win the game.

However, if I told you the FSU offense would only muster 21 points, I think you know what the result would have been. An FSU loss.

It was a game we knew the FSU defense needed to limit a high-powered offense, and the FSU offense needed to score north of thirty points.

There’s a reason the game points total was 67 by the oddsmakers. One of the most important parts of the game was the FSU defense forcing a punt on Wake Forest’s first possession, and the FSU offense not capitalizing on that opportunity.

Nevertheless, FSU had chances in the game late to make plays to give themselves a shot and couldn’t get the job done.

Let’s look at my five major takeaways from the game.
