FSU football will host Wake Forest Saturday afternoon, pending something drastically changing with Hurricane Ian.

FSU comes into the game off a blowout win over lowly Boston College, and Wake Forest comes off a double-overtime loss against Clemson.

The Noles are -7 betting favorites and 65.5 over/under points total. The Noles have scored more points than anyone against Power Five teams through the first four weeks without needing overtime.

Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson spoke about the 2022 version of FSU:

That’s not coach-speak, ladies and gentlemen. I went back and watched the 2021 game, and confirmed many of the things I thought as we got closer to this game.

I picked FSU to beat Wake Forest 38-27 in my game-by-game predictions in the preseason, which is almost identical to the total points number now. When FSU played Wake Forest last year, they were still toying with a two-quarterback system. The defense hadn’t figured out its identity yet, and the team was less talented than it is now.

What’s nice about it? The 2022 version of FSU is playing like a totally different team than last year. I don’t think we can say the same for Wake Forest.

They are what they are. A very good offense with a leaky defense, and I think FSU closed that gap and then some. Here are three major differences between this year and last year.
