The 2022 FSU football recruiting cycle will go down in infamy for a variety of reasons. However, the coaching staff put a final bow on the recruiting class Sunday with the addition of Jacksonville State defensive back Malik Feaster.

Feaster visited the Noles over the weekend and committed to the Noles after visiting Auburn. He’ll graduate from Jacksonville State next week and join the team immediately as a graduate transfer.

He is the 30th player taken and the 13th transfer in the class who’ll provide experienced depth at several positions in the secondary.

The coaching staff flirted with several transfer defensive backs after signing two top 100 prep players in Sam McCall and Azareya’h Thomas.

The thought is an experienced transfer would be more beneficial in the 2022 season than signing an average high school player that likely wouldn’t contribute this season.

Feaster brings good length and size at 6’0″ and 187 pounds, originally from Toccoa, Georgia. Feaster will join McCall and Thomas as players who’ll contribute in 2022, as both freshmen are already making their mark as early enrollees.

Overall, the 2022 recruiting class will finish in the top 20 but could be a big part of the foundation for Mike Norvell’s future. The class consists of blue-chip QB AJ Duffy and six prep offensive linemen, four of which are blue-chip players.

The defensive line features three defensive tackles with excellent upside and legacy defensive end Aaron Hester among others. The most important part about this class is the number of early enrollees and the players from the transfer portal who’ll contribute right away.

The class isn’t filled with a ton of flashy top-50 players, but I don’t see many players in this class who won’t be contributors for multiple years. Welcome to Nolenation Malik Feaster, and congrats on receiving your degree next week.
