FSU football added a nice piece to help finalize its 2022 recruiting class with the addition of defensive tackle Ayobami Tifase.

The Noles have 1-2 spots left but adding Tifase was a big win for the coaching staff. The Noles will lose Robert Cooper and Fabien Lovett, two All-ACC defensive tackles, after the 2022 season.

They’ll have Malcolm Ray and Jarrett Jackson, who began to develop nicely through the 2021 season. Joshua Farmer is someone who will log minutes as he develops, and FSU had two promising defensive tackles to enroll this spring in Daniel Lyons and Bishop Thomas.

How does Ayobami Tifase fit into the equation? Well, the first thing he does is help alleviate the miss on Tyre West at the 11th hour before the Early Signing Period.

West likely wasn’t going to play much in the 2022 season, just as Tiafse will not, but Tifase’s reclassification will put him in a position to get snaps in the 2023 season, just as West likely will have.

Tifase will have all season to practice, develop, and help alleviate the void left once Cooper and Lovett are no longer at FSU football. His addition will give the Noles their best defensive tackle haul since the 2018 season when Robert Cooper, Dennis Briggs Jr., and Malcolm Ray got to FSU.

Not only that, the recruiting win could initiate some momentum on the recruiting trails for a staff needs to do well this summer.

Defensive tackle recruiting for a huge concern personally, going into the 2022 recruiting cycle, and I have to give Odell Haggins credit for putting together a solid group that will help ease the transition of Cooper and Lovett leaving.

I’ll address this in another post, but the 2022 recruiting class could go a long way to paving the road to success for the program in the future.
