Fan Perspective

I’ll be the first to admit this FSU football recruiting staff has had some misses in the past and the current recruiting cycle.

There are things I don’t like right now on the recruiting trails. However, questioning why FSU isn’t signing top 50 players is also a lesson in futility.

FSU isn’t in a position to realistically sign elite players. The recruiting bell curve for the program right now isn’t the same as it was from 2010 to 2017. The standard is the standard at FSU, but sometimes you have to work three different jobs to pay the bills instead the one dream job.

Can it change with more wins on the field? Absolutely, but that’s what it’s going to take for FSU to get back in the mix for top guys. They have to change the perception and reputation of the program.

Players and coaches have to change things so other programs can’t negatively recruit them the way they are right now. I believe the program is heading in the right direction. They potentially have the quarterback of the future enrolled.

They have the potential to be above average in the trenches on both sides of the ball in the next few years. Those components alone can help you win a lot of football games.

FSU fans have to give the bell curve time to change again, and the program will be just fine. If not, the right coaching hire can reset the bell curve altogether.
