2021 Offense

I would have given Farrell a pass had he qualified his statement with something along the lines of the offense will not be pretty if Jordan Travis gets hurt.

However, to offer that opinion and then follow it up with statements that were not even true last year is laughable. The first error is assuming Jordan Travis is a pure pocket passer.

Yes, FSU didn’t have much of a threat in the passing game last year, but they have brought more talent in at that position from the transfer portal. Mycah Pittman was No. 94 overall, and Johnny Wilson was No. 116 overall out of high school.

Neither put up huge numbers since arriving in college, but neither played in offenses that were top offenses either. Malik McClain returns, and was a blue-chip player out of high school. I wrote about the potential of Jordan Travis a couple of days ago. He averaged 240 passing yards in his last three games or 2021, and nearly 70 yards rushing.

The biggest hurdle to the FSU football offense is his health. I haven’t gotten to the new additions to the FSU offensive line or how good the running game was last year. Farrell says the running game was suspect?

Here are some stats that disprove that:

-No. 6 in ACC Conference in rushing yards per game(while 10th in rushing attempts)
-No. 4 in rushing yards per attempt in ACC Conference at 4.78
-FSU running backs averaged 6.20(No. 40 nationally), 6.36 (No. 32 nationally), 5.09 yards per rush in 2021

Everyone knows Jordan Travis is the straw that stirs the drink at FSU. The FSU offense averaged 27.6 ppg last year, and that’s with Travis missing the equivalent of 3-4 games. That number likely moves up quite a bit if he plays in any of the games he missed due to injury or sickness.
