FSU football: Why eight wins should be expectation in 2022
By Kelvin Hunt
Jordan Travis
FSU football will go as Jordan Travis goes in 2022. Travis showed some progression as a quarterback last year and started making some throws he wasn’t comfortable making in years past.
He also made better decisions when running to avoid big hits that would normally limit his play when less than 100 percent healthy.
However, Travis hasn’t been able to complete a full season while at FSU due to injuries. It’s why I campaigned during last season for Mike Norvell to take a graduate transfer quarterback in the portal who could enroll in the spring semester. It was a fine thread to the needle because they needed blue-chip recruit AJ Duffy to sign and didn’t want to lose Travis to the transfer portal.
However, a transfer portal QB could have been the insurance needed if Jordan Travis had to miss time due to injuries in 2022.
Apparently, Tate Rodemaker impressed the coaches with his progression in spring camp, and AJ Duffy seems farther along than a typical freshman. If Travis does go down, it’ll be on those two players to make things happen.
I don’t think any fan feels comfortable with that scenario. However, ultimately, that falls back on Mike Norvell because they didn’t bring in an experienced player to help with depth at the position. Injuries are part of the game, and hopefully Travis can stay healthy for a full season.
If so, everything is in place for the expectation of eight wins because the team has enough talent and experience to make that happen.
