FSU baseball (26-16, 11-10 ACC) looks to put an embarassing loss against Stetson behind them as they travel to Boston College (18-28, 4-20 ACC) for conference play.

The loss may have cost the Noles a chance at hosting a regional unless they perform well beyond expectations for the remainder of the regular season.

Boston College batters are hitting .265 with an on-base percentage of .365 and have hit 62 home runs, 83 doubles, and eight triples.

Boston College pitchers will enter the contest with a 7.12 ERA, with opposing teams batting .289, with 389 strikeouts and 230 walks in 403.1 innings. They have allowed 57 home runs.

Defensively, BC has 59 errors for a fielding percentage of .964.

FSU baseball pitchers enter the contest with a 3.84 ERA, with opposing teams batting .227, with 521 strikeouts and 146 walks in 389.1 innings.

FSU batters are hitting .263 with an on-base percentage of .371 and have 46 home runs, 92 doubles, and five triples.

Defensively, FSU has 54 errors for a fielding percentage of .966. Boston College has an RPI ranking of No. 102, compared to FSU’s No. 15 ranking. It’s the second straight opponent outside of the RPI top 100.

Key To Victory

This is a team FSU baseball should sweep, but they should have beaten Stetson earlier this week too. Boston College’s pitching staff gives up a lot of runs and they are not a good defensive team.

I would say it’s a series that should see the FSU offense show some life, but I thought that would be the case against Stetson. If they put the ball in play, Boston College will kick it around and they are not great at holding runner’s on.

FSU pitchers should find success as Boston College batters strikeout 27 percent of their at-bats. The key will be keeping the ball in the yard, because they four players with at least seven home runs. It goes back to the fundamentals. If FSU pitchers throw strikes, hitters put the ball in play, and the defense makes the routine plays? FSU should take these wins.

Friday’s game will begin at 5:30 p.m. ET and air on ACCNX.
