Akeem Dent

The highest-rated recruit from the 2019 recruiting class finally began to come into his own in the 2021 season. Dent, hampered by injuries and maybe a lack of focus at times, became one of FSU’s most important players while settling into the safety position opposite of Jammie Robinson.

Dent finished last season with 44 tackles, one interception, four passes defended, and 1.5 tackles for a loss in only 10 games in 2021. Dent lists at 6’1″ and 201 pounds and has the athletic ability to play safety in the NFL. It’s all about the details and making a play when in position.

However, we saw progress from Dent in the Notre Dame game last season. He missed an open field tackle and got up to run down the tight-end and make a tackle nearly 20 yards downfield.

He needs to make the initial tackle and impact plays more often in 2022 if he wants to hear his name called in 2023.

It’s not a question of talent with Dent, it’s will he continue the progression and development for him to reach his full potential.
