Tatum Bethune

Tatum Bethune has been clear about his goal of making it to the NFL since transferring to the Noles from UCF. Bethune was UCF’s leading tackler in 2021, with 108 in 12 games.

Bethune checks in at 6’1 and 230 pounds, with the ability to play against the run and in coverage. The latter is important in a college and professional game that’s much more pass-happy than in years past.

Bethune has two interceptions, 5.5 tackles for a loss, two sacks, and three QB hurries. That production was behind a defensive line that’s a far cry from what FSU will put on the field in 2022.

The thought process is he should have even better production behind a better defensive line, with the opportunity to shoot gaps and make more splash plays.

His tackle totals from last year would be the most at FSU since Reggie Northrup’s 122 tackle season in 2014. Ironically, Bethune and Northrup are nearly identical in size, though Northrup has a faster 40-time from what I’ve gathered.

What Bethune lacks in speed, he conpensates with instincts. A solid 2022 season could see Bethune hear his name in the mid-late rounds.
