Attrition in Last Few Months

The challenge for Mike Norvell has been flipping the roster and using the transfer portal to find players physically ready to play while also recruiting players from the high school ranks. Those transfer players have forced other players on the roster to enter the transfer portal, raising the level of talent on the roster. However, the number of players that have entered the transfer portal since August 2021 has been telling:

Purdy signed with Mike Norvell, while Grothaus was a walk-on for Willie Taggart and put on scholarship by Norvell. Jarvis Brownlee, who signed with Taggart, will likely find a home at another Power 5 school.

That leaves 15 players that entered the portal and have yet to find a home or one at a Power 5 program. Four of those players committed and signed with Mike Norvell, and two more came from the transfer portal and re-entered the portal.

The remaining players on the list either signed with Jimbo Fisher, were committed to Taggart and signed, or committed to Taggart and signed with Norvell in the 2020 transition class. So out of all of the 40 players that have entered the transfer portal since December 2019, only 11(probably will be 12) have found homes at the Power 5 level.
