FSU football: 3 things learned in week one of 2022 spring camp

Newcomers and Freshmen Standing Out
One consistent thing we’re hearing from Mike Norvell is the number of transfer players and freshmen standing out at practice. Norvell isn’t one to praise unless deserved, and we’ve heard him say he likes what he has seen from multiple units.
The defensive line, running backs, and wide receivers have flashed. I know a lot of people thought Oregon transfer Trey Benson was a bad take, but it looks like those folk could be eating crow this fall. Freshman running back Rodney Hill has already flashed a few times.
Tatum Bethune will likely get starter reps at linebacker. Joshua Farmer will likely push for snaps in a reserve role on the defensive line. Freshman Daniel Lyons and Bishop Thomas have shown promise. Azareye’h Thomas and Sam McCall have impressed as freshmen in the secondary.
Johnny Wilson and Mycah Pittman have made plays as transfer wide receivers, but they have pushed some young wide receivers to step their game up. Malik McClain has flashed and looks to build on his freshman season.
The offensive line is mixing and matching, but the addition of Kayden Lyles and Bless Harris have been welcome additions. Overall, I expect this team competes at a higher level than last year.
