Player Competition

I’m sure there are a few positions already locked up. Jordan Travis will be the starting quarterback. Jammie Robinson will start at safety. Kalen DeLoach will be one of the starting linebackers, and Fabien Lovett and Robert Cooper will be one of the top defensive tackle duos in the ACC.

However, one thing Mike Norvell said that stuck out to me was that some players that started that year could be running with the two’s and three’s at practice this spring.

That sends a clear message to the players that they will have to compete to get on the field, and that’s been a consistent message since Norvell arrived.

The wide receiver, secondary, and offensive line immediately came to mind when Mike Norvell talked about former starters not starting anymore.

I think FSU football fans questioned why some players kept getting playing time in the past, but frankly, it’s because FSU didn’t have enough talent at certain positions to put someone else out there.

That shouldn’t be the case as this is the best depth FSU has had since Mike Norvell got to Tallahassee. However, Norvell still talked about the youth and potential of the team as they have fewer than 10 seniors.
