FSU football will begin their 2022 spring practice Saturday, and head coach Mike Norvell spoke to the media Friday to give his thoughts.

Mike Norvell talked about the progress the team has made in the offseason. He also detailed some of the things he is the most excited about, including the record amount of newcomers who joined the program this spring.

I went back and listened to Norvell speaking before spring practice the last two years, and it’s clear he knows what he has and the direction they are going.

One of the things that stuck out from two years ago was how Norvell talked about instilling the work ethic needed to be successful and how there were no leaders to point to at that time.

However, it’s clear the players in the program have bought into the coaching staff, and the coaching staff has bought into those remaining or joining.

That wasn’t always the case the last couple of years, and that’s a big-time shift in the team culture. One of the things Mike Norvell said he’s looking for the most heading into spring practice is consistency.

I think FSU football fans would agree with that as well, as we’ve seen glimpses of hope the last couple of years, but still a lot of what could have been.
