Pass Rush

I know many FSU football fans still doubt Adam Fuller as defensive coordinator. However, the defense improved substantially in 2022.

I know some fans want to attribute that credit to getting players from the transfer portal. I don’t understand that line of thinking because that applies to any coach. We didn’t see Nick Saban winning national championships at Michigan State.

Jimbo Fisher looks like an ordinary coach unless he has an elite quarterback. See how that works? There were lots of question marks surrounding the defense last year and where the pass rush would come from.

Nobody expected Jermaine Johnson or Keir Thomas to play at such a high level.

The question is, who’s going to fill those voids on the defense? I expect the defense to improve at every position, with the defensive end spot as the x-factor. Dennis Briggs Jr. will likely be the answer at one of those spots.

What will transfer Jared Verse become? Will players like Quashon Fuller, Derrick McClendon, Patrick Payton, George Wilson, and Bryon Turner Jr. contribute anything?

Whatever Adam Fuller gets from this group of players will likely determine how well this defense plays in 2022.
