FSU football still has some spots to fill in its 2022 recruiting class, but attention towards the 2023 recruiting cycle has been underway for some time.
FSU coaches have already offered 274 players, with 45 percent of the offers towards players in Florida and Georgia.
One of those offers is to blue-chip wide receiver Hykeem Williams, the No. 59 player overall and No. 10 wide receiver nationally.
Williams dropped a top 15 schools list in December which included FSU football, and updated that list to a top 8 Monday night.
FSU made the cut again:
He eliminated schools like Florida, Penn State, Oregon, Auburn, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Michigan State. Of course, FSU will be battling some heavy hitters in this recruitment, with the wide receiver position being of great importance after failing to sign a high school player in the 2022 class.
Williams lists at 6’3″ and 195 pounds and had 31 receptions for 693 yards and six touchdowns in 2021. FSU got him on campus a couple of times last year, including the season opener against Notre Dame. However, Miami’s old staff got him on campus numerous times.
He also visited Miami last month to check out the new staff but is set to visit FSU soon. FSU needs some difference-makers at the wide receiver position, and Williams fits that bill.
The Noles brought in four transfer wide receivers with multiple years of eligibility but could lose two after the 2022 season if they have productive seasons. They already have one 2023 wide receiver commit in three-star Vandrevius Jacobs.
They’ll likely need to bring in 3-4 receivers in the recruiting cycle, with expected attrition from the position between now and the season opener. FSU has some traction with 1-2 receivers ranked in the top 10 at the position, but the question is can they close on them?
