If you’ve read the site over the past week or so, you may have seen where FSU football will have a quiet National Signing Day.
They only have one committed player signed that could sign Wednesday, offensive lineman Antavious Woody. It’s up in the air if FSU coaches will send a letter of intent, so if you don’t hear anything about Woody signing, we’ll know coaches are not confident he’ll make it in.
Other than that, the rest of the additions to the 2022 recruiting class will come from the transfer portal, likely after spring practices conclude. Where FSU could really win is if their rivals fail to make any significant additions to their roster on National Signing Day. FSU has 16 commitments(15 signees), and 10 transfers already enrolled for spring.
Miami has the No. 38 recruiting class with 10 commitments. Florida has the No. 19 class with 16 commitments, and Clemson has the No. 11 class with 17. There are a few remaining top-tier unsigned players. Will any of these FSU rivals capitalize and sign them Wednesday?
Miami talked a big game, but it seems most of the energy they had dissipated as players that considered them seem to be going elsewhere. I’ve seen a few three-star players crystal balled to each of these schools, and they may improve their rankings some, but these players aren’t difference-makers and have remained unsigned for a reason.
That’s why FSU has made the smart move of not signing these three-star players, but instead taking players from the transfer portal that can potentially contribute much earlier. Miami has five transfers, Clemson has one, and Florida has six.
If none of these teams land any difference-makers, I’d consider National Signing Day a win for FSU football, possibly without signing a single player. If you’re not up to speed on who the Noles have signed and enrolled, here’s a list of them all.
