National Signing Day Will Be Real Quiet

I want to go ahead and get that out of the way real quick. Woody is the only high school player I expect them to sign if they feel he’ll qualify academically.

The only other high school player they have spoken with recently is three-star Jack Pyburn, who they visited last week, and then he took an unofficial visit to FSU over the weekend. The staff never offered him, which is indicative of where we are in the process.

He’s a player that would have taken 2-3 years to become a contributor if a contributor at all. FSU already has enough developmental players along the defensive line/edge, so I thought it was wise to pass on him.

That scholarship could be used for a player from the transfer portal that needs less time to develop and can contribute sooner.

There are a few hidden gems out there, but there are usually reasons a good player hasn’t signed with a team by now unless they are a national player. That’s something to remember if you see teams like Miami, Florida, and others adding players to increase their national ranking.

FSU football can’t be in the business of taking high school players just to take them at this point.
