Defensively

This facet has been the strength of the team overall. The Noles have held their last four opponents to 45.7 percent shooting overall.

I know that may not sound great, but three of those teams are No. 19, No. 15, and No. 9 in KenPom offensive rankings. FSU is doing a good job of not fouling too much as these teams only average 17 free throw teams during this streak.

They’ve forced 67 turnovers in the last five games and averaged about eight steals and three blocks. The defensive rebounding has been much better than earlier in the year as teams only averaged 6.8 offensive rebounds per game.

The one area I’d like to see improvement is the defense of three-point field goals. These have been some of the best offenses nationally, but there have been way too many wide-open shots for my liking, not to mention these teams made three-pointers at a 43 percent clip.

I respect his efforts, but I think these defensive numbers improve if we see less Wyatt Wilkes on the floor. I also think things improve as the young guys gain more experience in the system.
