I can’t help but think former FSU offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham played a part in this evaluation. Dillingham has been at Oregon the last month as their new offensive coordinator.

I can’t prove it, but dumbfounded would be how I’d describe it if Mike Norvell and the coaching staff didn’t lean on him for information regarding Benson’s health and whatever other information they could find out.

I think due diligence is why it took so long for the staff to accept his commitment, and you’ll notice he didn’t announce the commitment until he visited Tallahassee.

Did they run him through a series of drills to evaluate him while visiting? I hope so, but I can’t verify that. I know that’s what I’d have done, considering these are scholarships they can’t afford to waste.

The running back position wasn’t one of my top priorities from the transfer portal when I wrote about the top remaining needs about a week ago.

However, the coaching staff much feel different with former walk-on Treshaun Ward as the most proven of the trio of Lawrance Toafili and DJ Williams.

What could Trey Benson bring to the group?
