Mike Norvell Continues To Flip The FSU Roster

Recruiting highly-ranked recruiting classes is one thing, but doing so and addressing roster needs is the ultimate. Mike Norvell decided to use the transfer portal more than high school recruits in the 2021 recruiting cycle, and it paid off in spades as 7 of 8 All-ACC selections were from the transfer portal. It’s the same approach for Mike Norvell in the 2022 recruiting cycle.

The Noles already have five players committed from the transfer portal. The offensive line(2), wide receivers(2), and defensive back.

These are areas where they need better depth or an infusion of talent, particularly at wide receiver, since most of those guys rarely contribute in year one no matter what their ranking is. I’m sure they’ll look to take more transfers at wide receiver, linebacker, defensive end, and possibly defensive tackle.

The transfer portal is a gamble because it’s unpredictable, and coaches don’t know who plans to enter or when. However, finding the right fit can instantly make the team better, which should help win more games.

Thus, winning more games likely means they can recruit a higher-caliber player out of high school.
