Ja’Khi Douglas

Ja’Khi Douglas is someone I’ve yet to figure what the staff is trying to do with him. He lists as a four-star wide receiver coming out of high school, although he was the quarterback for his high school team.

We saw him sparingly as a freshman in 2020, totaling seven receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns. He also had six rushing attempts for 11 yards.

The staff listed him as a running back in the 2021 season, but we saw him playing wide receiver in the season opener against Notre Dame.

He finished that game with three receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown but then disappeared for the next eight games as a receiver.

We saw him as a running back in the UMASS and NC State games for seven rushing attempts and six yards. It was clear he’s not a running back, so I don’t understand why he’s not playing wide receiver full time? He finished the season with 14 receptions for 255 yards and two touchdowns.

He has good speed and showed some ability to beat teams vertically, at least? He’s a player I’d like to see a move to wide receiver full time to see what he can do.
