Corey Wren

Corey Wren is another player from the 2020 recruiting class that FSU seems unsure of where they want to use him.

Wren is a former three-star athlete who played running back from his high school in Louisiana. He lists at 5’9″ and 187 pounds after enrolling at FSU in the summer of 2020.

I’ve never thought he was big enough to be effective at running back and thought it would be best to put him in the slot or at least find ways to get him out in space out of the backfield.

There’s an adage, you can’t teach speed, and it’s something Wrenn has in spades.

He broke the Louisiana state record for the 60-meter dash at 6.79 seconds and ran the 100 meters in 10.41.

That’s too much speed to waste away at running back as we’ve yet to see him catch a pass or run the ball over the last two years.

The only action we’ve seen involving him is returning kickoffs, which have been underwhelming. I’d like to see Wren move to wide receiver and give it a go.

Otherwise, that’s a scholarship that isn’t going to contribute much production, if any.
