FSU football: 2022 Early Signing Period mock recruiting class
By Kelvin Hunt
Marvin Jones Jr.
I know you are probably thinking, I have blind optimism considering FSU football is going head-to-head with Nick Saban in this recruitment.
However, there is a method to my madness. Of course, Marvin Jones Jr. grew up around the program, and you probably saw the picture of him standing with Dalvin Cook before he grew into the monster of a young man.
Despite knowing everything about FSU, Tallahassee was the only place Jones Jr. visited three separate times. He came with his mom on one occasion, his dad on another, and took his official visit during the Miami game.
He saw Jermaine Johnson destroy Miami in person. He and former FSU defensive end standout and NFL First Round Draft pick Brian Burns attended the same high school. His dad is one of the greatest Noles of all time, and his NIL compensation opportunities would likely be higher at FSU than anywhere else.
His father has been extremely supportive of Mike Norvell, despite how the last two years have gone, and that wasn’t the case from what I recall with a former coach. I know the father will allow the son to make his own decision, but I believe he has made it known how important his recruitment is to the program.
How would it look for a Nole legend’s son to attend elsewhere when Jones Jr. is good enough to be a first-round draft pick no matter where he signs? I don’t believe FSU football gave him enough reasons to go elsewhere.
In the end, I believe Jones Jr. wants to be a Nole and help this program get back to how it was when his dad was a player. Jones Jr. ranks as the No. 22 player nationally.
