Job Perception

Mike Norvell seems to have a respectable reputation in coaching circles. It’s why he could surround himself with so many veteran coaches when he came to FSU.

One thing that stuck out to me was how coaches said they were willing to leave their situations to work with Norvell or work with him again since they had worked together before. Coaches want to work for coaches that can help them progress in their careers.

In this case, Chris Marve went from a linebackers coach to a defensive coordinator in two years of working with Mike Norvell at the age of 32. Coaches notice these things, and hopefully, that will bode well for an eventual replacement for Chris Marve.

There’s too much talent in Florida and Georgia to allow FSU football to be in a predicament like a linebacker shortage. FSU is a place that shouldn’t struggle to recruit linebackers with a history of great linebackers that have worn garnet and gold.

I suppose Randy Shannon could be an option, but he’s been on the staff, and his Florida ties didn’t help land any of the recruiting misses I mentioned earlier. Here’s to hoping Mike Norvell will find a linebacker coach that can recruit Florida and Georgia while developing talent.

If a coach comes to FSU, at least they know if they perform, they will have a shot at finding a promotion.
