Explosiveness

Mike Norvell and Kenny Dillingham say the offense is for playmakers, and that’s something the offense has been missing the past couple of years.

It has been a struggle with the former staff failing to recruit skill position players in the 2019 recruiting class and other players never fully bouncing back from injuries.

Norvell and Dillingham were constantly scheming players open with formations because wide receivers struggled to beat man-to-man coverage and Jordan Travis struggles with accuracy at times.

The offense ranked No. 90 in 2020 with 5.29 yards per play against FBS competition. It was No. 78 in 2019 at 5.55 yards per play. That number improved to a robust No. 41 ranking with 6.23 yards per play in 2021.

That number includes over 30 percent of the snaps with McKenzie Milton at quarterback, which means it would be even higher if Jordan Travis could stay healthy.

The ‘Noles offense has 176 plays of 10+ yards, which accounted for 22.3 percent of their total plays on the season.

That’s nearly a three percent increase over 2020 and about one percent higher than 2019.
