FSU football: 3 takeways from ‘Noles loss against Clemson
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football had opportunities to pull off a monster upset against Clemson on the road Saturday afternoon. However, limitations at positions, a costly turnover, penalties, and the failure to capitalize on three Clemson turnovers were the difference in the game.
I’m not going to say the referees cost the Noles the game, but they called some defensive pass interference calls on third down that was trash and extended a couple of Clemson drives.
The defense played well enough to win the game despite allowing Clemson’s offense to score more points than any other Power Five team this season.
A few missed tackles in the first half cost them, but I felt the defense put the offense in some great positions to capitalize against a great defense. In several ways, FSU didn’t deserve to win the game because Clemson didn’t play well at all.
They had multiple turnovers and missed three field goals. If their kicker makes those three kicks, FSU doesn’t have a chance to win the game.
Nevertheless, it’s frustrating as a fan because you see the opportunities they can’t capitalize on, and who knows if Clemson will be down against next year?
Let’s take a look at my three takeaways from the game.
