FSU football: 3 takeaways from dominant win over UMASS

Offense
I couldn’t find too many issues with the FSU offense, granted they were playing the second-worst defense in college football.
They only had nine third-down opportunities and converted six of them. It was the second consecutive game they didn’t turn the ball over, and they only allowed two tackles for a loss and one sack.
I mentioned Jordan Travis running too much to my liking earlier, but that wasn’t on the offensive line as he had time most of the day. The running game was unstoppable, with five different players scoring rushing touchdowns.
The Noles only threw 15 passes and completed 10 of them, with Malik McClain flashing on a 51-yard reception. Camren McDonald has found a role in the offense the past two games as he finished with three receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown.
I thought Chubba Purdy looked much more comfortable than we’ve ever seen him. His mechanics look improved, and he made good decisions with the ball, completing all five of his passes and throwing two touchdowns.
The offense only punted once all day, and it’s hard to be much more efficient than they’ve been in the last two games. They have their identity formed around Jordan Travis and the running game.
The wide receiver unit has played well enough to keep defenses honest, coupled with Jordan Travis’s ability to run. They’ll face the best defense they’ve seen all year next week against Clemson.
