Still Coach Led

FSU football is still a coach-led team right now. Sure, a few are trying to lead, but the thing is, some of those players came from the transfer portal.

Players like Keir Thomas, Jashaun Corbin, and Jermaine Johnson are trying to hold others accountable. Then there are players like former walk-on Treshaun Ward who the coaches don’t have to worry about because they know he’s going to bring it every day.

Generally, your leaders will be the better players on the team, and these guys are four of your best players. However, three of them came from the portal, and Ward is a former walk-on. Although they are performing at high levels, there’s still a certain level of disrespect for the lack of a better term.

What I mean is it’s easy for some players to say you just got here, or you used to be a walk-on who just earned a scholarship. We have to remember Landon Dickerson got laughed at during practice a couple of years ago because he was taking practice too seriously.

There are some players still trying to learn how to win, and it’s easy to get a GED(good enough disease) after you’ve won a couple of games.

Think of it as someone going on a diet and doing well for a week, losing a couple of pounds, and then going out one night and binge eating because they had some success.

It doesn’t make sense logically, but emotionally that’s what happens when people are not accustomed to things that require a laser focus.
