FSU football head coach Mike Norvell continues to speak more candidly than most about his team.

Norvell has consistently provided updates on how practices have gone as he speaks with the media during scheduled interviews.

He has not been afraid to give the team praise when they perform up to expected standards, and the same holds if they don’t have the same juice the next day.

It’s something we’ve seen each of the last two weeks since winning back-to-back games before the bye-week.

Norvell points out that it’s not every player and that some players bring the will to improve every day. I’m sure he’s asking himself why that’s the case when players know what the standards are?

If they can meet them one day, why can’t they meet them every day? It all comes back to the habits of the team.

The great Vince Lombardi had a quote that read, “Winning is a habit, and unfortunately is losing.” FSU football hasn’t done a lot of winning in recent years, and they are a young team like Mike Norvell mentioned in the interview.

Remember when you were a kid, and your parents told you things, and you didn’t understand until you matured as a person? That’s some of what’s happening at FSU right now.

Mike Norvell is reinforcing the standard by telling the public the team didn’t meet the standard. The question is, what will it take to consistently meet the standard?
