FSU football coach Mike Norvell addressed the media Monday as preparation begins for the Syracuse game.

One consistent question surrounding the program is how they’ll get over the hump and finally win a game in 2021?

Norvell addressed that questions and pointed to the work habits and the desire of his players to want to win.

However, when one media member asked what Mike Norvell message was to recruits, he dropped this spill and walked off:

Thoughts

I wrote about Mike Norvell making progress in Tallahassee here. Man, I don’t know if a man can be more clear, but while still talking in coach speak to a degree. He’s right about the current players on the roster being the best recruiters. If they continue to believe in Mike Norvell’s vision after an 0-4 start, it makes it easier for a recruit to trust the staff is helping the program move in the right direction.

I thought Mike Norvell did a good job of selling a perceived negative and turning it into a positive with how rabid the fan base can be at times. The reason a lot of fans are negative is there’s a standard of winning at FSU football.

The fan base cares, and that’s why so many fans supported Willie Taggart in his first year with 50,000 at the spring game. It’s why they have supported Mike Norvell, but they also want results.

Mike Norvell knows he needs an infusion of talent, and that’s communicated to these recruits. It’s clear the staff shared the outlook before the season began, and it’s likely why we have seen the 2022 recruiting class stay intact thus far. However, today’s presser was clever.

It was another way to communicate with not just FSU commits but any FSU recruiting target out there. There’s a decision, and that’s to be a change agent at FSU or go somewhere and fall in line more established from a cultural standpoint.
