Final Thoughts

One thing to point out, knowing the coaching staff will be involved in the transfer portal, is how well they have addressed positions of need.

They took 10 transfers overall in the 2021 recruiting cycle. They had needs at defensive end, safety, offensive line, and wide receiver where they couldn’t afford to miss if they wanted to have any semblance of success in the 2021 season.

They signed Jermaine Johnson, Jammie Robinson, Keir Thomas, Dillan Gibbons, and Andrew Parchment.

They didn’t get the offensive tackle they were looking for, but all of these players listed aside from Parchment have been MAJOR contributors in 2021.

Robinson leads the team in tackles, and Thomas and Gibbons are starters. Parchment has played but hasn’t made the impact one would hope, but also didn’t arrive in Tallahassee until the fall.

The players seem to believe in this coachings staff, and the staff believes in these players. Think of how easy it would have been for these transfer players to quit or become selfish after an 0-4 start.

Jermaine Johnson was one of the main guys taking a leadership role along with Keir Thomas, and credit has to go to the coaches for doing their due diligence on these positions where they couldn’t afford a miss.
