Impact

However, it’s the impact he can make soon that’s also important. Johnson’s performance this season has given more credibility to FSU football coaches in a couple of ways.

Johnson has shown players can be upper-echelon, and come to a program in rebuild mode like FSU, and raise your NFL Draft stock.

FSU will likely have to use the transfer portal heavily in the 2022 recruiting class, which will allow the coaches to point to Johnson(and a few others) as proof of concept for further success with those upper-tier transfer prospects.

Johnson will have the opportunity to play against quality teams like Clemson, NC State, and Florida in the second half of the season. If he continues his rate of production, who’s to say he won’t win the award?

If so, that would be huge for him and the Noles, considering the situation both he and the program were in a few months ago.

FSU has some talented projects at the defensive end position and recruiting a couple of top prospects in Marvin Jones Jr. and Nyjalik Kelly.

The Noles will likely need to dip into the transfer portal for more defensive ends and possibly a defensive tackle. They’ve had success with the latter in Fabien Lovett. The success of him and Jermaine Johnson is a legitimate positive to sell in both areas.
