FSU football: 3 key moments in ‘Noles win over UNC
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football played their most complete game of the Mike Norvell in a 35-25 win as 17 point underdogs on the road against North Carolina.
The game was much different than the upset in 2020 at home, with FSU football holding on for dear life and North Carolina’s comeback bid fell short. The 2021 game saw North Carolina open a 10-point first-quarter lead, only for FSU to dominate the next three quarters.
FSU football fans have not grown accustomed to that sort of play, and the moments highlighted in this piece will serve as evidence for how progress has been made within the program, although the overall record doesn’t reflect it.
It is trusting the process situation with Mike Norvell and the staff. It’s the same for recruits committed or contemplating signing with the Noles. However, this is a game where coaches can demonstrate what’s possible in all three phases.
Tangible results help validate trusting the process, and that goes for players currently on the roster. I think that’s what we’re beginning to see with this team.
The days of getting punched in the mouth and seeing how long they can lay there seem to be over. This program does respond to adversity.
The next step is learning how to limit how much they have to face, and that’s in all of the little details. Here are my three key moments in the ‘Noles victory over the Tarheels.
