FSU football: 7 players deserve Tomahawk Stickers for Syracuse game
By Kelvin Hunt
Jordan Travis
I have criticized Jordan Travis a great deal this year, and Saturday’s game was no different. I tweeted he wasn’t a quarterback, and I stand by that sentiment, but they don’t win the game if he’s not on the field.
Travis had some receivers to drop passes, and he had some errant throws of his own, particularly the deep shots downfield he should have made.
He still gets happy feet and leaves the pocket too quickly, but there’s no question he is special when healthy and using his legs.
He finished the game completing 22 of 32 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. He had 113 rushing yards on 19 carries. They don’t trust him passing the ball, which is why the passes were screens or deep shots down the field.
However, I think they may have found an identity with him playing quarterback. The biggest thing for him is staying healthy because he typically gets banged up when tackled. The kid has a big heart with a will to win and I have to respect that despite his limitations as a quarterback.
