Defensive Line

One thing Louisville does defensively is they try to stop the run with a 3-4 defense. They usually don’t do a great job of getting penetration or getting to the quarterback with their three-man front.

They only have 15 tackles for a loss through three games (No. 90 nationally) and five sacks (No. 80 nationally).

Those are two areas the FSU offensive line has struggled, especially in the last game against Wake Forest. The Noles allowed eight tackles for a loss and three sacks last week in only 51 offensive snaps. Three of their sacks have come from their linebacker unit.

One tale-tell sign is their two leading tacklers are defensive backs. The Cardinals will come into Saturday’s game allowing 6.32 yards per play which is much worse than FSU’s 5.36 average. I know everyone wants to fire Adam Fuller, but it could always be worse.

This defensive line is one that a somewhat healthy FSU offensive line should have some success with as long as the quarterbacks and offensive coordinators play to their strengths.
